Narayever Everdale CSA

The Community Shared Agriculture (or Harvest Share) is a social model that connects us to our food, the land, and our farmers. The CSA is also an economic model that allows us to put our food dollars directly into the hands of a community farm (Everdale) that supports the local economy, and uses organic practices that respect the nutritional value of the food and the social and environmental value of our land.

The First Narayever Everdale CSA is a joint collaboration between Everdale Organic Farm and The First Narayever Synagogue where everyone can access fresh, organic produce on a weekly basis on site at the Shul.
2013-14 was the first year the CSA successfully ran year round, with bi-weekly pick ups between January and June.

Every Tuesday afternoon between 3:30 – 7:00 pm Everdale farmers, interns, and volunteers from the community set up a market stand on the front lawn for CSA members to pick their produce. As a CSA member you have over 20-30 fruits and vegetables to chose from, a choice of how many weeks you would like to pick up your share, 4 different share sizes and take-as-you-need fresh herbs.
The Summer Share runs weekly from June to October.

We are always looking for new members! If you are interested in joining the Summer CSA please see Everdale’s website for more details.

Early registration is key component of the Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) model.

Why? By committing financially to our Harvest Share in advance, we help farmers directly:

  • Knowing registration numbers early enables good planning: how much to plant and when to plant it.
  • A secure income helps with the upfront costs of farming: the seeds, equipment, salaries that are paid for well in advance of the first crop harvest.
  • By committing early, we allow Everdale to concentrate their time and resources on farming, not advertising or recruitment .

If you plan to register for this summer’s Harvest Share, please consider registering now! See the Registration Website.

The Harvest Share at Narayever also emphasizes tzedakah – a portion of unclaimed produce is donated to Second Harvest or the Wellington County Food Bank in order to help those in need.
